Dugout Dish sends out our condolences to the Shildt family.

Elizabeth “Lib” Shildt passes last week at the age of 85 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shildt was the reason her son fell in love with the game of baseball — taking him with her to work. Shildt worked with the Charlotte O’s, then Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Baseball for Life, a non-profit, Charlotte-based organization of which Mike Shildt is co-director.

Rumor mill..

There is speculation that Kris Bryant (Chicago Cubs), Mookie Betts (Boston), and Francisco Lindor (Cleveland) could be playing for new teams in the 2020 season. The Detroit Tigers are once again looking to move Matthew Boyd, who could be seen as prime real estate for teams that can’t afford Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg.

The Miami Marlins are rumored to be looking at Nicholas Castellanos which could be a key player in upgrading the ‘Lins. Howie Kendrick has also sparked the interest of Miami, Cincinnati, and even Tampa.
